It’s time we get more European cars involved. So here comes the EuroCup category for the Saturday Night Fever Series!

In a nutshell:

o Street cars only
- No racing cars; Interior must be intact; rollcage permitted; if rollcage fitted, necessary omission of interior is accepted.

o Saloon bodyshells; high-volume unibody monocoque chassis only
- sorry but no Supercars (Gallardo/F430/97GT3) or Lightweight specials (Elise/Atom/Radical)
- A BMW Z4M qualifies. So does Merc SLK. And so on (be rational!)

After the spectacular Preview, it’s  now time for Round 1!

With new, lower Entry Fees of only RM 200!! WOOHOOO!!

Having gained feedback and experience from the Preview Round, we have made a couple of changes to the format and added some new categories, to promote  more colourful and edge-of-your-hotpants action:

o Street 1.8 Open category
A new category that is open to any type of car with an engine capacity below 1900cc. However, it EXCLUDES vehicles that ARE NOT high-volume unibody monocoque chassis construction (no Caterhams, Elises, X-Bows, Atoms, Radicals, etc). AE86s and MX5s can take on EK9s and Satria GTI 1.8s. Tyres limited to semi-slick, as per our approved list. No Race cars.

o SuperStreet Open category

The Saturday Night Fever Challenge Series took off with explosive light, music, and track action at the Sepang North Circuit last night, which saw Jon Teo in his flame-boosting Evo-6 firing early-warning shots with outstanding wins in both the 4WD Battle and Race Car / Open categories.

Hot, close, sweaty action was taking place both on and off the track, enthralling the 1000-strong crowd as the best drivers took their highly-tuned machines to battle it out accompanied by swirling lights, pumping music, and dance performances.

It was a show that has never before been seen in motorsports, with the organisers coming good on their promise of Fast And Furious-type entertainment coupled to Gran Turismo-ish on-track tournaments. The once popular MSS category “Super Compact” which features smaller capacity vehicles of the ‘Kei-Car’ category will have a 5-lap heat during the upcoming Saturday Night Preview round this 25th December. The original series organiser, Muhd Jefri Jamaludin, hopes to see this class of vehicle become popular once again at the racing circuits, and is taking the opportunity provided by the Saturday Night Fever series revival to once again provide a platform for drivers of these little cars to hit the track.

Ignition.my is delighted to support this initiative, as it is our aim with Saturday Night Fever to provide entertaining and attainable motorsports for everyone!
