Posted on 16th August, by faisal in Msports. No Comments

Seven years, 4 MotoGP titles and 45 race wins later, Valentino Rossi has parted company with Yamaha. Ben Spies is expected to be promoted to the factory Yamaha.

Valentino will replace Casey Stoner on the lead Ducati, in  a 2 year contract. Nicky Hayden is most likely to be retained to partner the Doctor.

It remains to be seen if Crew Chief , Jeremy Burgees will follow Valentino to Ducati, as how he did when Rossi left Honda for Yamaha at the end of the 2003 season.

MotoGP: Stoner back on Honda for 2011

Posted on 9th July, by faisal in Msports. No Comments

Casey Stoner has finalised a deal to return to Honda after 4 years with Ducati, yeilding 20 wins and a world title.

Stoner will return to the Honda fold on a factoy ride. This could possibly mean a 3-prong Repsol Honda team.

With Stoner out of the way, Ducati are looking at a possible replacement in none other than Valentino Rossi.  That would be the ideal Italian dream team wouldn’t it?

Posted on 20th May, by faisal in Msports, Sepang 1000KM. 3 Comments

To get everyone up to speed, I’d like share some info on the race.

The Sepang 1000km is an ofshoot of the Merdeka Millenuim 12 Hour Endurance. Some years ago, it was noted that the mix of GT racers and 1600-1800cc Saloon cars could be potentially disastrous.

So to cater to the smaller engine cars, and to give them a better platform to perform, in 2009 Sepang introduced the Sepang 1000km or S1K for short.

Sepang 1000km has 2 classes, Class 1 for 1800cc cars, and Class2 for 1600cc cars. Most of the field are made up of Honda Civics  EG EK models and Integra DC2s. The exceptions are the Satria NEO, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Levin 101/111 and Celica ZZT231. For 2010 there will also be a Peugeot 206 entered.

Each entry is allowed a minimum 2 drivers and maximum 4 drivers.  During the … Read More »

Leon Haslam’s inaugural win at Phillip Island is closest in WSBK history

Posted on 1st March, by adian in Msports. No Comments

The closest finish in World Superbike history – four thousandths of a second, or about 25cm – marked Leon Haslam’s breakthrough victory in the championship yesterday at Phillip Island as he edged out Italian rider Michel Fabrizio.

The 26-year-old son of British motorcycle legend ”Rocket” Ron Haslam – having his first ride on a factory Suzuki after 60 win-less races – made a stunning start to the 2010 World Superbike Championship.

The winning margin was close enough to confuse the timing transponders on the bikes. The system indicated Fabrizio had won but a photo-finish confirmed Haslam had just hung on. Asked if he thought he’d caught Haslam, Fabrizio smiled wryly: “Si. On the big screen I saw my wife celebrating and thought I must have won.”

There was a big scrap throughout the Race One which included Noriyuki Haga, who bounced back from … Read More »
