Under SNF 2012 regulations, if you have any Protests to make regarding misconduct or behaviour during the race, or technical infringements that you believe a competitor may be making, there is a 30-minute window from when the Results are published. Please read the regulations.

If you do not protest within that time, then go home, calm down, and look forward to the next race.

As for bumping and pushing, it is clearly stated in Section 16 of the Sporting Regulations that “Participants guilty of these incidents will be excluded with immediate effect.” It was mentioned during the Driver’s Briefing before the race that bumping and dangerous driving will not be tolerated, and any driver guilty of bumping and deliberate nudging could be excluded.

Guilty!!

If found guilty 3 times, the driver could be banned from all AAM events.

The responsibility of this decision this is up to the Clerk of the Course (CoC) under the guidance report by Race Control and supervision of AAM Stewards. If there is no objection from the Stewards, then the decision of the CoC is good and just.

If any driver/team has any discontent with the decision of the Race Officials during a Race Meeting, an official letter may be sent to AAM as the guiding body. AAM will review the decision and investigate the matter accordingly if deemed necessary.

There are no politics in SNF, and please refrain from accusing the Organisation of doing so. After all the hard work the whole SNF team put in over the past 15-months to make it what it is today, unprofessional accusations trying to discredit the organisers of money politics is very disappointing.

We are all here to kick back, go door-to-door racing, have a good time, and above all have fun!

Please be informed that we are now an inscribed event, and timing is strict. Registration closes at 4:30pm, and no late-comers are accepted.

Scrutineering starts at 2pm at Pit 3, so as soon as you arrive, register, and then go straight to Pit 3 to get your car checked.

We have had several enquiries on what is possible and what is not with the SNF 2012 Technical Regulations. We’d like to take this opportunity to provide further explanations and definitions of several matters.

Definition of Vehicles
Quite simply, do not insult the intelligence of the Organisers and Scrutineers. If your vehicle is specifically a competition-prepared car, then there is no way it will be deemed as a road car.

The definition provided in the regulations are pretty lose, but if there are any discrepancies, the Organisers have the right to determine which category your vehicle falls under, and our decision is final.

Road cars must have a proper road car interior with working amenities. This disallows you from stripping the interior of trim. The interior should remain as intact as possible, and this includes switches and interior lights.

For air-conditioning, we would want to see an operational blower and switchgear as much as possible. It is permitted to remove the compressor, condenser, and hoses. But at minimum, the blower must work!

Cars that have a welded in rollcage are automatically considered to be a Racing Car.

In the Racing Car category, you are permitted to strip the car of interior except the dashboard and front door trim. Anything else goes.

In terms of wheels and tyres, and wheel and tyre setup that exceeds the dimensions of the original bodywork MUST be covered with external arches and widened bodywork.

If you use a racing seatbelt harness, please ensure that it is properly installed and secured: Harnesses are not allowed to be bolted to the seat nor seat mounts; the harness must be in good working condition with no defects and functional release.

For all cars, your front lights, rear lights, and brake lights MUST be working.

If there are changes to the rules that we make along the way, these will be release under “Additional Supplementary Regulations”.

If you have, we have some news to share with you. In order to avoid you from having any difficulties entering SNF during the AAM inspection at the scrutineering bay, the Ignition.my team will be working together with En.Mohd Munawer, the representative from AAM will be doing FREE……(THAT’S RIGHT FREE!!!!!!) aftermarket Roll Cage inspection. The reason for doing so is for you to get the approval from AAM prior the the race. For those who did not pass the inspection, you still have time to find roll cages with the exact specification that was given before .

However, all of you are required to bring your cars that have been properly fitted with the right Half Cages.

Since the beginning, this category has excite our avid SNF fans thus being dub The Mafia Category ( Que The Godfather Theme & Don Corleone) Being the king of this category means you have concurred the whole Sepang track with your skills and not by putting cement in somebody’s racing suit (haha). The history of this category is quite interesting.

The first King and champion of this category was Don Clement of the Yeo family driving his sparkling orange Honda Civic EK. Entering the second round Don Clement’s throne was brutality taken by Don Ahmad Fauzi aka Ali of ProDrag with his powerful Honda Civic EK9 Evotec Prodrag.  Don Ali of ProDrag set a remarkable benchmark to the other racing Mafioso where Don Ali gave an incredible performance. Starting out last during Heat 2 and by the end of Heat 3 he was the champ. The nickname Godfather was given to him because Don Ali manage to wriggle his way to victory amidst the stampeding horsepower of other 1.8 Street Open vehicles and he stormed his way in to the lead. During the 4^th Round, Don Ali or Prodrag decided to continue racing in the FF Festival which gave him the chance to drive his Honda Civic EF and becoming the new champion for this category until the end of the 2011 series.

This category has always been close to heart of local motorsports enthusiast because this category is considered the grass root of Malaysian motorsports and has attracted many local tuner gangs. For us at Ignition.my this category has the most well disciplined drivers throughout the series. All of the drivers are friends before the race but once the race has started, friendship is put aside in the pit lane while the battle it out on the track. These drivers never verbally ‘attack’ or mock others driver on Facebook. Their good behaviour and mutual respect for each other should be made an example to other category drivers.

To repay their kindness and support for us and the exemplary behaviour they have shown, we have decided to upgrade this category thus making it much more exciting. Truth be told, there are many other potential drivers that can be crowned as champion hence the reason us to create 2 sub-category which is the NA (Non-VTEC) and the VTEC + Forced Induction. All of the drivers in both sub-categories will simultaneously race together which is the main attraction in the Super 1800 category.

For the NA (Non-Vtec) sub-category, it will give the opportunity for the non-VTEC engine enthusiast to push their vehicles to its maximum power to fight for a place on the podium or even the champion

For the VTEC + Forced Induction category, we can promise that you can loads and loads adrenaline-pumping action. Drivers of VTEC engine vehicles do not think you have it easy, you must remember the fleet of Forced Induction vehicles charging their way on the track. Just look at Raymond Wong of FTZOne Racing from Penang driving his 1.8 GSR Turbo Proton Wira. Before Raymond charted the time of 1 minute and 27 second but during the finale SNF series, Raymond’s time increase to an incredible 1 minute 23 seconds, a remarkable feat!

Now for some news from our motorsport Mafioso informant, we have been told that a challenger from the Super 1.3 Open category will be making an appearance in this Mafia category. Who, you might ask? Well, you just have to wait and see for yourself. >J

Not only that, our informant also told us that a former champion will also enter this category ready to battle it out with his machine. Who? Wait and see, The Former King will be revealed. (Que Godfather theme again….)

So, to all future racing Mafioso, please sure your vehicles are in good shape and tip-top condition and give us all the maximum of power and mad-skills you’ve got this 14^th January at Sepang International Circuit!!!!

Starting in January, The SNF Series for 2012 will introduce a new category! 

The reason for upgrading the Super 1.3 category to Super 1500 is  to answer the request of many of our avid fans and participants that have been emailing, calling, smsing and even told our team personally that they wish for us to create some added opportunity.

Why, you might ask?

Well, this category is divided into 2 groups which are the Turbo and the NA group. So, Why not divide the two and provide the NA boys a chance at glory? It is quite impossible for the full maximum power of an NA 1.5 engine to overtake a Turbo engine with a 1.3 or 1.5 capacity. Just look at the crazy armada of Starlet. Since the beginning of this category only the Starlet drivers placed on the podium and only once in a while will some other                                                                                                            vehicle will break their domination.

So, we at Ignition.my decided to spice up this category and have it upgraded. Those with NA capacity vehicles should be given a chance to be in the top position, (Hooray!!…The sounds of NA drivers rejoicing…). Let them go home with satisfaction written on their faces. That is our aim. Isn’t it what SNF is all about? A place for them to develop their talent and achieve their dreams and ambition.

Back to the armada of Starlet, a fraction of them wanted this category to be upgraded because the dream of going head to head with Mr Steven Lai aka Jackie Chan of SNF in his Toyota Vios Turbo.               (Wooooohoooo!!!) But sadly, Mr Steven will be selling his Super Vios soon, so we won’t get the chanceto see the armada of Starlet  going head to head with Steven and his Super Vios. To all the fans of Steven Lai, please email, facebook,  call, sms, or write a letter to  him asking or begging to come back in action for 2012! (hehehe) There is also a rumour buzzing around about a Proton using a 1.5 Bolt on Turbo engine getting ready for battle. If this news turns out to be true, it is going one heck of super super race! (That is, if the driver is any good >:P).

Okay, to all you future participants for the Super 1500 category, please make sure your vehicle is in tip-top condition. To the Super 1500 NA gang, make sure your vehicle is at is best and good order because this will be the first time this category is introduced. So, give it everything you’ve got! It is not impossible to see the raise of the Super Saga                                            that once dominated our local racing scene in the past.

When is the first SNF 2012 round?

Bring your friends, families, neighbours, schoolmates, office mates, workers or anybody you can think of to come celebrate the first round of SNF 2012!!!

Ultra Racing is now the producer and official of SNF-certified bolt-in half-cages.

These SNF legal only bolt-in 4-point cages are being offered for an SNF-only special price, of between RM 1,600.00 – RM 1,900.00 for SNF-competitors only, as Ultra Racing’s continued support and sponsorship of SNF as the premier entry-level racing series in Malaysia. Cars with Ultra Racing cages will be required to run Ultra Racing branding on the flanks.

Normal retail price is RM 2,800.00.

These cages, together with Cusco, Safety21, and any other FIA ASN approved Club-level bolt-in half rollcage are only legal to be used in SNF, not in any other AAM-inscribed event in the country.

These are minimum requirement cages. For additional safety and improved chassis strengthening, we would recommend a full 6-point bolted-in rollcage. These may be custom created by Ultra Racing, please do discuss your needs with them.

For 2012, SNF is taking a step forward to the next level to become a proper AAM-sanctioned Club-level racing event, one that we can now be proud of after building it up throughout 2011, thanks to all the support from the team, drivers, fans, spectators, media, and of course the sponsors!

Although going up to Club-level may seem daunting at first, but do not worry because as is usually the way we do it, we have created the event to be in such a way that it is very accessible to all, and to be as easy to get into as possible.

With this, we are now announcing the official regulations for SNF 2012 are published, and registration for Round 1 is now Open. Please go to the bottom of this page for the SNF 2012 Regulations downloads.

Let’s go through the most important parts together:

Entry Fee
Even though our organisation costs go up, we are not changing the Entry Fees! It is still RM 400 for a 3 heat category, and RM 300 for a 2 heat category. Of that, RM 100 is the refundable transponder deposit.

Spectator ticket prices won’t be changing either, still RM 30 for Paddock and RM 10 for Grandstand.

We will always make sure that SNF is affordable for you!

Categories
For SNF 2012, we have made some changes to the categories so that more people have more chances of going home with the pride and glory of being winners! Trophies are also now awarded to the Top-5 places!

Retro and Mini Classic – 2 heats
Carrying forward this new category introduced in SNF8 2011, this is for old skool rides that are over 25 years old from date of original model manufacture. Cars in this category must run the original OEM engine block that was available on the original vehicle. No SR20s in Ford Escort Mk2s sorry.

Special Kei Compact – 2 heats
Dedicated to jap-spec kei-cars only. No arguments on what these cars are, specific dimensions are provided. Tyres limited to 14inch max, 185mm width. Only 660cc engine may be force-fed, 850cc and 1000cc engines to be normally-aspirated, as per OEM engines.

Super 1500 – 2 heats
The Super 1300 category has now grown to accommodate 1500cc cars: new Vios, Jazz, Swifts can all join the fun now! However we have provided two subcategories, these being “NA” and “Forced Induction”.

Campro Chase – 3 heats
This category specifically for PROTON’s home-brew engine gets a bit more exciting with it being divided into two subcategories: “Road Cars” and “Competition Cars”. Therefore, racing-prepared Campro cars will now compete in their own category!

Street 1.8 Open – 3 heats
Also infamously known as the ‘Mafia Category’, we have split the cars. There is now an “NA” subcategory, and a “Forced Induction and VTEC” subcategory. They’ll all run together, but now the non-VTEC boys have a chance to earn their own rewards.

SuperStreet – 3 heats
The previous FF, RWD, and 4WD categories are now amalgamated into a single event known as SuperStreet. Here they will duke it out with no quarter given! Depending on numbers of entries, there will be trophies for the various subcategories of FF, RWD, and 4WD.

Racing Cars – 3 heats
Racing Cars will now be split by engine capacity: below 1900cc (Class 2), and above 1901cc (Class 1).

For all categories, engine displacement will be taken seriously, and the Organisers and/or AAM Stewards have the right to request that the Top-3 finishers engine be stripped after the race.

Safety
As has been mentioned since last April, half-cages are compulsory and they need to meet the minimum FIA-specifications of 40mm diameter, 2mm thick, cold-drawn seamless steel.

Ultra Racing, one of the most well-known names in safety bars manufacturing in the world, is an SNF sponsor and have been tirelessly working together with us to provide a very affordable half-cage specifically for SNF and priced specially just for SNF.

Club-level flame-retardant racing suits to SFI and EN533 specifications remain compulsory, as do SIRIM helmets.

Starting Grid
We are introducing a new, more exciting grid system for 2012.

Heat 1: As usual, starting position is based on ballot (lucky draw)
Heat 2: This will feature a reverse-grid based on the finishing positions from Heat 1. So if you won Heat 1, you will start at the back for Heat 2
Final Heat: Your grid position will be based on an aggregate points system from BOTH previous heats. So if you won Heat 1 and won Heat 2, you will start at the front of the Final. But if you won Heat 1 but DNF for Heat 2, you might start somewhere in the middle for the Final.

Protest
Under FIA regulations there is an official avenue to lodge a protest. Protests may be lodged within 30 minutes from the time the results are declared, and must be in writing and handed to the Stewards. Technical protest fee is RM 500, and Sporting protest fee is RM 100.

A Technical protest is against suspected technical infringements, whereas a Sporting protest is for alleged dangerous and/or unsportmanlike driving.

Championship
SNF 2012 will be a Championship, with points to be scored at every event! We’re adopting a points-scoring system that goes all the way down to 15th position in your subcategory (yes, subcategory!) so there is something for everyone, and every position counts. Plus we have bonus points awarded in the Final Heats:
Lap Leaders: 10 Points for each lap led in the Final Heat
Fastest Lap: 20 Points for fastest lap in the Final Heat.

Championship Trophy and Prizes
Championship trophies will be awarded at the end of the year to the Category Champions. For Prizes, this is currently TBA. We are working very hard to secure new sponsorship and hope to grow outside of the automotive and motorsports industry, in order to provide some exciting and worthwhile goodies which will be awarded to the Category Champions at the end of the year. We will keep you up-to-date on this.

So far, we believe we have delivered everything we promised. We hope that you will trust us on this matter too.

Licensing and Packages
As of 4 years ago, FIA announced that Club racing drivers require an ASN racing license. So, for SNF, you will require a minimum National C racing license.

Better Santai zone with more lighting and music!

SNF Santai Zone
The ‘gerai’ paddock area behind the pit building will be upgraded to what we are calling the “SNF Santai Zone”. Additional lighting will be provided, as well as tables and chairs. More food will be on offer, and also of better quality. We have decided to work with the better F&B operator who will expand her dishes and tidbits.

SNF is here to stay
SNF has always been an independently run event with no reliance on any form of government body funding or similar, and we continually do our best to ensure that SNF is here to stay so that there will always be racing in our country. To develop a business and event based on government funding is a recipe for a short-term opportunistic profit, potential for corruption, and of course, the (very high) odds that the event will cease to exist when the patron pulls the plug on $$$. SNF is a lot less affected in a change of politics or ruling power or top-official, and this ensures our long-term continuity.

Racing License Application Procedure
Follow our steps and it’s as easy as 1-2-3 A-B-C Do-Re-Mi!

1) Prepare these:
a: 4 x passport photos
b: 2 x photocopy of IC and Driver’s License

2) Go to the nearest AAM-panel clinic for a medical check-up
The Clinic has the AAM Racing License application form, which you will fill up at the Clinic.
We recommend Viji PoliKlinik at 1st floor Centrepoint Bandar Utama. The lady doctor there is friendly, gentle, and errr quite easy on the eyes!

3) Bring your complete AAM Racing License application form (which will now have the doctor’s report), and your documents to N1 Racing in Sunway before Friday 6th January. N1 Racing has been an SNF agent since SNF2 2011 and have been very helpful to all SNF competitors. Pay the SNF entry fee and fill up the SNF Entry Form (or you can download and print it here)

4) Job done! We will send your Racing License application to AAM to process, and will hand it over to you at SNF Registration on race day, together with your club-membership card.

2011 is coming to an end, The Rabbit is bowing down to The Dragon and so is our SNF 2011 Series.

We at Ignition.my would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the SNF Participants for joining us throughout the whole SNF Series.

Still fresh in our memories when we first launch The Saturday Night Fever Series with just 40 drivers and 400 spectators. But with sheer determination and positivity the SNF Preview Round went on smoothly!

Round after Round with a few new categories added, more and more drivers joined and the spectators increased. With each category there will always be a star driver that is the favourite amongst the crowd. Even our friends from across the causeway joined our event and made it more lively! The highlight of the whole SNF Series was our Grand Finale where an amazing total of 131 drivers registered and raced! Every pit in Sepang was full of cars! Not to mention all the spectators who had a wonderful time at our SNF Karnivale!!!

With so many great and wonderful memories, there is also a smidgget (ok a lilltle bit more then smidgget….a fraction of 00.05%) of not so great memories. During the early days we were accused of doing an illegal event where we sell booze and we raced illegally! I assure you in my mother’s maiden name that our event is 100% LEGAL and the only beer we sell is Root Beer! We also had criticism from our very own participants. Even though it was like pouring vinegar on our wounds and we had to come up with some painful decision, we did whatever it takes to make SNF the very best it can be and better! We will stride on, even if certain people want SNF to disappear from the tarmac of  Sepang, We Wil Race On! To all you haters and critics, don’t hold your breath because……SNF WILL STAY ON FOREVER AS SURELY AS THE PETROL IGNITING POWER TO THE ENGINE! This is the promise we can give to all our supporters.

We also hope to help the drivers enhanced their skill in our events and we will keep on doing so. From an unknown driver at first, to becoming a household name amongst the SNF Series, this is what SNF is all about, finding new racing talents from all over the country. With the Motorsport industry gaining more speed and momentum, we hope that next year will be better for all of us. Our sources even told us that performance and handling parts sale have increased dramatically.
