BMW Club & Friends Vehicle Dynamics Course with Ignition.my

January 12th 2013 saw a total of 15 cars from the BMW Club Malaysia together with a couple of their friends in other cars participate in the Ignition.my course for “Introduction to Vehicle Dynamics & Limit Handling” at Shah Alam Stadium Carpark. It was a mix of all types of cars, and with a lady driver as well (who did very well indeed!).

The weather played its part thankfully, with overcast skies for most of the day up till about past lunchtime. Speaking of which, the 4 barrels of KFC fried chicken went down pretty quick when you have 15 ravishing drivers pumped with adrenalin!

The course introduced the participants to
– Skid Control at 70 km/h
– Braking Avoidance at 70 km/h
– Lane change at 80 km/h
– Staggered Gate Slalom at 80 km/h

And we finished the day with a little Autocross competition as a culmination of all that they observed through the day’s activities.

Pics from Slide School 3-2012

A total of 7 cars turned up to play at our intermediate Slide School held on 14 July at Shah Alam Stadium car park. Even though they were basic S-courses and R-courses, everyone had a great time shreading rubber and improving their slide skills!

That is why Slide School exists: not everyone wants to be a drifter, but there are many that do want to learn and practice how to successfully go hang it sideways and hold a slide all the way around a turn.

Slide School Intermediate – 14 July 2012

It’s time to ditch the Beginner donuts, and head straight to S-course, R-course, and Reverse R-course drift layouts!

No more donuts, seriously. We want to PLAY, so come out and join the fun! We’ll be creating 4 different courses, you fellas (and dolls) line up, and run through it. And we’ll do it like this all day long.

I guess we’re not all hardcore drifters and can’t make it to Djan’s SpeedCity Saturday Night Drift, so here’s the perfect place to play or practice your skills.

How does it work? Simple: a nice, big, open area; experienced instructors (errr, that’s me and Faisal); some basic guidelines and courses; and the recommendation to drive it like you stole it!

DETAILS:
14 July 2012, 930am till we’re all tired (usually by mid-afternoon);
RM 200 per driver for a maximum of about 10-12 participants;
Venue is Shah Alam Stadium Carpark;
Tents, chairs and tables as well as drinking water provided.

Slide School – 5 May 2012

Yes, for 2012 we’re doing more of these driving courses which encourage you to drive like a twat, take it to the limit, and maximise the possibilities and your car control!

So we’ve rebranded and changed the name, it’s a “Slide School”. It’s not just for RWD cars, but FWD and 4WD are encouraged to join, we’ve altered the syllabus to focus more on car control.

How does it work? Simple: a nice, big, open area; experienced instructors (errr, that’s me and Faisal); some basic guidelines and courses; and the recommendation to drive it like you stole it!

Ok, seriously: when we were at Proton R3, once in awhile (like a few times a week!) we’d take some cars to the test track after hours when it’s not being used, and just drive like idiots: 100kmh initiations and spins, Scandinavian flicks and 3rd gear drifts. We did it all, and we’re so much better drivers because of it. We encourage you to be just as irresponsible as we were: within the confines of our Slide School!
